I’ve been wondering what my dad is good at so Jem and I went around asking what skills my dad was good at. We found out that Atticus was good at making wills and what surprised me was that he was a one shot dad. That means that he can shoot anything with only one shot. I didn’t expect that Atticus would even touch a gun because he hates guns. I guess he didn’t want us to know about that so that we wouldn’t start liking guns. Our dad had to kill Tom Johnson because he was crazy. I was sad that a dog had to be killed. But it had to be done I guess.
When Jem and I were walking to town Mrs. Dudose was on her porch and she yelled something to Jem and Jem became so mad that he took the new baton that he just bought me and chopped all of her flowers. Not realizing the peril of her shooting him with her gun she carried he did it anyway. I was being cantankerous when I was thinking if I would have done it or not. After he was done he snapped my baton in half and through it on the ground that made me really upset. When we got home Calpurnia already knew what he did and yelled at us. We then had to go back and read to Mrs. Dubose every day. That was what she wanted us to do and she said not to contradict her. When we got to her house it was dark and scary when I saw her face I was terrified she told us to come sit down but it was inaudible. This was the closest I have ever been to Mrs. Dubose. I realized she had been setting her alarm back everyday so that we would stay longer. One day Atticus was called to go over to her house I thought it was inconspicuous. Then when he came back he told us that Mr. Dubose died.
