I chose this quote because I thought it was really important that it really shows how the kids treated Francisco. I think that Francisco was happy that he made a new friend because of Junior Rascals. I think that this will help him out in school for him to know that he has someone to hang out with and talk to.
Personal Connection:
I was looking at a new school one day and I was scared to go see it but then once I found out that one of my best friends was going to I felt a lot better. I think that this really helped me overcome my fears.

I chose this because it talks about Francisco's brother Roberto was treated by the Americans. I think that this is really sad how Roberto's stepfather doesn't like Mexicans and is trying to stop his daughter from dating Roberto. I think that he should judge Roberto by his character not his race. I think that this really effected Roberto.
Personal Connection: One time I was excluded from a game because of my race and it really made me upset but the I told the teacher and the problem was resolved.
Question#2: Was there ever a time when you were excluded or made fun of for your race or religion?

1. I like the quote that you chose. I was glad that Francisco made a new friend that he shared interests with, but there was a lot of people that didn't want to be his friend. I agree with you of how you said that a friend helps you out and it makes you overcome your fears.
1a. Yeah, I did have a similar time as well. It happens a lot when you go to a new kind of class and you hope that you have other people with you as well to be with you. Friends help you out and it doesn't feel like you're alone..
2. I agree with you of how Roberto and Mexicans were treated. Susan's father stopped them from dating and didn't want to continue dating, but the current girl continued. She didn't mind of what others thought and she didn't care of his race.
2a. There has been several times but I can't really think of times at the top of my head. It doesn't really affect me that much, and it's not as discriminating as Roberto's situation is. I think that you just have to ignore it and move on.
