Quote#1: "I am proud of being Catholic and Mexican and you must be too."
-Papa

I chose this quote because it relates to how they keep their cultures from their home country wile still living in America. This quote shows how Francisco's family really is proud of being Catholic and Mexican because it is what their heritage is and that is who they are. So I think that although they are in America Francisco's dad wants them to remember that they are Mexicans and Catholics.
Question#1: What would you do if your dad told you something like this quote?
Quote#2: "Because I am Mexican"
-Francisco

I chose this because it really shows how the Americans treated Francisco. This shows that Francisco's girlfriends parents didn't want him to go out with their daughter anymore because he was Mexican. I think that this is really unfair and really hurt Francisco he probably is really confused about why it happened. I feel really bad for Francisco and I would be really mad at the parents if they said that.
Question#2: What would you do if you were told this?

Quote#1:
I also think that papa is really proud to be Mexican. I agree on how you said that papa wants Fransisco and the rest of his kids to be proud of who they are which is Mexican and Catholic.
Question#1-
I would probably listen to him because I would have to be proud of who I am. I don't think I would ever be ashamed because I am Mexican and Catholic.
Quote#2-
I totally agree with you. In this part of the story I felt really mad. Why wouldn't people want Mexicans or any other race.I think it's pretty stupid that some people see other races differently in a bad way.
Question#2-
I think I would probably be really mad and confused. I don't see how people are not suppose to like you just because your a different race I mean they can't judge you because they don't even know you.
