Book Review

Daniel Karin

Enrique’s Journey

I thought that Enrique’s Journey was an okay book. Some parts were good and some parts where boring and could have been taken out of the book. I liked some parts of the book because they were interesting or they had a lot of action. I thought that it also had a lot of mature content that littler kids shouldn't read, so this book is for a higher age level. This book in the middle repeated itself a lot about the trains and the robbing and beatings that happen on the trains.

When I say some parts were boring, I mean how the author would start talking about how the towns all thought the migrant were bums and were crazy. The author would just keep talking about the same thing for a longtime in the book, but when the action and exiting parts came up it was a good book and had a lot of details in it. I also liked how the author would go to another person’s point of view and talk about them for a while, but I did find this a little confusing at times. Sometimes the author would just start flipping back and forth and I would get lost. This book was also not so easy to get who the was talking about, the author would just randomly switch to another person without giving a sign she was talking about some one else.

I also liked how the author kind of wrote the book in a suspenseful way. Like he would go back and forth from Enrique who was on the train tops to his house back in Honduras, and talk about how his family was doing and what was going on in the house. He also would leave you hanging for a while because he would tell you a lot about Enrique’s girlfriend and how she was doing.

The plot of this book was kind of hard to figure out I couldn't tell if it was about not doing drugs or that you shouldn't leave your family. I thought that it was a mix of both. the plot was interesting and i liked the books plot. I also liked how with the plot you didn't figure it out until the end of the book because you found out that it is that Enrique would find his mom. I did think he would find his mom ever. even if he go to the United States it would be hard to find her.

Over all I thought that it was well written and had a lot of information about the migrants. I liked the style of writing it was written in and how the author described things in the book. I also thought that it was a okay book because at some parts it gets boring. I wouldn’t recommend it to a younger age level because it has some mature content in the book. I wouldn’t recommend it to a person who gets sick easily because it is really detailed and talk in depths about the migrants who fall off the train tops. I thought this was pretty good book at some parts and I thought it had good content packed with a lot of information. Although it was slow at some parts it was an okay book and like I said before I wouldn’t recommend it to a younger age group. I liked this book a lot better than my first book and liked how the author told the story a lot better.
